  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the benefit of valeting?
Aside from making your car look good and smell fantastic, one of the primary benefits of having your car professionally valeted on a regular basis is that it significantly increases its' resale value. A car that has been well looked after will fetch a greater sale price than one that has been clearly neglected. Put another way, it's quite likely that you will be able to recoup your valeting costs at the time of sale!

Why shouldn't I use an automatic car wash?
Even the most effective and advanced car wash will damage your car. They use detergents and chemicals which are harmful to the paintwork. It is likely they will accelerate the paintwork's ageing process and contribute to fading and oxidation. These overly strong chemicals are used to compensate for the inefficiency of the giant rollers. In addition to this, the rollers create thousands of tiny scratches in swirling patterns on your bodywork. The consequences of regular visits to an automatic car wash will certainly be realised when it comes to selling your car. We can undo some of the damage to your vehicle by machine polishing the paint work and finishing with a coat of hard wearing wax.

What products do you use?
We use the Autosmart range of valeting products. Autosmart supply the trade all over the world and are thought of as having some of the best quality products available. We also use various Autoglym products to get the best results, you can be sure that your car will look fantastic!

How long does it take?
A full valet takes between 3 and 4 hours. Also we try to save water, so use various products, including a smaller amount of water than usual.

What Valet should I go for?
Really that is up to you. What does your car need? Is it dirty both inside and out? We usually recommend our most popular valet, the full valet, as this covers everything, and we pride our selves on really putting in the effort to bring your vehicle back to showroom condition, as much as possible.

What is the difference between a polish and a wax?
A polish acts as a moisturiser to the paint and enriches colour and lustre. A wax on the other hand will add shine, but primarily acts as a protective coating by sealing the paintwork either by polymers or a carnauba.

Can you come to my work?
Yes, we are mobile and will come to your home or place of work, or even a car park. Our van has it's own supply of electricity, and is fully stocked with the best available valeting products. The only thing we require from you is your key! We are based in Wroughton, Swindon [SN4 0UJ], if we have to travel more than 20 miles, a small extra charge will be required.

I am selling my car, can you help?

We can't sell your car for you, but what we can do is a gold [pre sale] valet for you. This includes everything and more. It will take us most of the day to complete, but your buyer will be amazed at how good your car looks. This includes machine polish and clay bar treatment as well as 'fogging' to remove odours permanently.

What makes BRITESHINE VALETING different?
We do a great job for each and every customer and are extremely proud of our work and attention to detail, we would not leave your vehicle unless we are completely happy that it is the best you have ever seen it look. Water is used sparingly [when possible], With our fantastic products, we can use less water and normally hand wash all vehicles using the very best products. We only use the best quality micro-fibre towels, which ensures there is no way of scratching a vehicles surface. Our cleaners and polishes are second to none, we never use cheaper products.

Why use less water?
It takes an amazing 180 litres of fresh clean water from our reservoirs to wash a car the traditional way. Most of this water simply bounces off and never actually aids in the cleaning process at all. Water is a precious resource. When a jet wash is used we are concerned that the water and all it's pollutents are washed down the drain into the water course, which includes oil, brake dust, petrol etc. We can use less water because we don't simply blast water at a car, we use a combination of the very best products around, products that we KNOW work!

Adverse weather conditions
We can provide an excellent job but not excellent weather conditions, so in an event of extremely bad weather, we will rearrange another convenient date and time.

Odour Removal, please explain!
We are able to rid your vehicle or home of any nasty unwanted smells-permanently. We use a fogging machine that leaves no sticky residue or marks. For a full explanation see the odour removal page. Fogging is only included in the gold valet price, otherwise it is from £15.00 per vehicle, depending on what exactly is required.

When are you available?
We are available 7 days a week, from 8AM to 5PM, and later in the summer months. All you have to do is call us to book your valet. We can usually come out next day and in some cases a sameday service is possible.  Email us anytime.

Why should I have my car waxed?
Firstly, it keeps airborne contaminants from reaching the paint and starting a chemical reaction. Secondly, it diffuses (refracts) UV and infrared radiation from the sun, thus preventing both from being absorbed by the pigment in the paint, which in turn would result in dullness and oxidising of the paint. A waxed car will actually have a lower paint surface temperature than an unwaxed car! What is oxidation? This is paint starvation. It occurs when paint becomes dry and loses its' natural oils. Even the mildest soaps and shampoos will accelerate this process. (We’ve known people who have used washing up liquid as a car washing shampoo. This is an absolute no!) We understand this and only use detergents of a neutral ph level to ensure proper care of your cars paintwork.

What areas do you cover?
We are based in Wroughton and cover Wiltshire/Oxfordshire areas.

Can you do a valet cheaper if I book every month or so?
Yes we can, just ask when we have completed your first valet. Also should you want to tailor a valet package more to suit your needs, we can do that also. We can offer a discount if we are doing more than one vehicle at the same address.

Do you do any 'special offers'?
We do from time to time, although we always try to keep our prices as low as possible. Please look out for our special offers page, which we update on a regular basis.

It's a lot of money, £65....
Yes, it is. Our prices reflect our quality.

Why should I go for the 'WINTER VALET'?
With a WINTER valet, we carry out a FULL VALET but in addition, we use a very rich long lasting polish to help protect your vehicles paintwork during the worst of the winter months. We also make sure that all brake dust and tar spots are fully removed, as these can get coated in salt and grit during the winter, and cause rust and corrosion to set in. We also clean and polish all door shuts and rubbers, to protect them from the damage that rain and frost can cause. Amongst other things, we also use a long lasting polish on the wheels, which again helps to protect them from the salty deposits. A winter valet costs a little more than a full valet, but is well worth it, to protect your vehicle. We normally offer Winter valets from 1st October.
